Tai Chi and Chi Kung exercises use the Chinese model of the body as an energy system and aim to balance and enhance the intrinsic energy called Chi (or Ki in Japanese, as in Reiki). The exercises are slow, gentle and firmly grounded, using the posture, the breath and the focussed mind in a calm, meditative way. They are strongly supported by visual imagery. These arts take a great deal of time and practice to develop fully. However, in this workshop, I will select key elements of Tai Chi and Chi Kung which I have found most helpful for my own massage practice, and which can be quickly learned. If used on a regular basis they should help therapists to work more effectively while enhancing their own well-being.
